Parkop said teaching and learning needed to be supported adequately to achieve better outcomes. “Teachers should be supported because they balance the equation of learning,” he said. He said he was aware of the situation that schools in the city were overcrowded and teachers over-worked with teacher-student ratios around one teacher to 60 students. Mepio said his focus was on quality education and teachers would be properly screened in terms of qualifications and performance before taking up their post. “You may have the degree but if you do not have the management skills and cannot perform, that can become a problem,” he said. “If you possess the skills and can perform, then you will be given the opportunity to continue.” |
