Grade 12 Economics Examination Topics and Units
The Papua New Guinea economics syllabus is based on the curriculum principles from the National Curriculum Statement. It has been designed using learning outcomes that identify the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that all students achieve or demonstrate by the end of Grade 12. It is linked to the national curriculum learning area Culture and Community and builds on the knowledge and skills students have learnt since elementary grades. This Economics syllabus offers a number of pathways to post-secondary study and the workforce.
The study of Economics enables students to develop knowledge and understanding, skills, attitudes and values using subject matter and methodology that suits their interests. It benefits students when they pursue further education and training, employment and active participation in their community.
The Subject Economics is taught at Upper Secondary in Grade 11 and 12. Students sit for Economics Examination at the end of completion of year 12.

GRADE 11 ECONOMICS TOPICS AND UNITS
There are three main topics and units taught in Grade eleven (11) Economics in all secondary schools. All the three units are examined at the end of Grade 12 Economics National Examinations. The three main topics are outlined below in relation to the National Examination specifications.

Economics Examination Specification
The Education department through the measurement services division have been setting the exams for each unit in the Economics subject and covers 3 multiple choice questions and 1 short answer questions worth 7 marks. This year is more likely to be the same. Unit 11.1: Introduction to Economics and the Economic Problem - 3 multiple Choice Questions and 1 Short answer question worth 7 marks. Unit 11.2: Growing the Economy- 3 multiple Choice Questions and 1 Short answer question worth 7 marks. Unit 11.3: Managing the Economy: A Microeconomic Focus- 3 multiple Choice Questions and 1 Short answer question worth 7 marks. |
GRADE 12 ECONOMICS TOPICS AND UNITS
The Grade 12 National Examinations for Economics is based on five main topics taught in Grades 11 and 12. There are two main topics or units taught in Grade 12. Grade 12 students must be knowledgeable in all the economics topics in order to sit for the Economics National Examinations. The two Grade 12 Economics units are outlined below.
