PNG Language and Literature L&L Examination Topics and Units

Language and Literature is designed for students with a good command of English and is largely literature-based. The basic principle is that students’ language use develops through a study of literature, media studies and associated activities.
The Upper Secondary Language and Literature syllabus is based on the curriculum principles from the Papua New Guinea National Curriculum Statement of the department of education. It has been designed using learning outcomes that identify the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that all students achieve or demonstrate by the end of Grade 12. It is linked to the national curriculum learning area of Language and builds on the knowledge and skills students have learnt since elementary grades. The Language and Literature syllabus offers a number of pathways to post-secondary study and the workforce. The language and Literature course is offered at Grades 11 and 12 in all Secondary Schools and National High Schools all throughout the country.

Grade 11 Language and literature topics and Units
The Grade 11 Language and Literature course is part of the National Curriculum of the Department of Education. This course is designed to be taught by all Language and Literature Teachers at all Secondary Schools and National High Schools throughout the country. There are four topics and units in Grade 11 Language and Literature Course. These topics and units are all examined at the end of Grade 12 Language and Literature National Examinations. Outlined below are the topics and units that must be covered in Grade 11 Language and Literature.
