Applied Science Examination Topics and Units
The Applied Science syllabus outlines the National Examination topics and units for Applied Science taught at the upper secondary school in PNT. The syllabus is based on the curriculum principles from the National Curriculum Statement. It has been designed using learning outcomes that identify the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that all students achieve or demonstrate by the end of Grade 12. It is linked to the national curriculum learning area Science and builds on the knowledge and skills students have learnt in Grades 9 and 10. The National Examination topics and units are also linked to the knowledge and skills that students have learnt in Grades 9 and 10.
Grade 11 Applied Science Examination topics and units
There are six main topics in grade 11 Applied Science course. Students must be knowledgeable in the six topics in order to sit for the National Examinations. The six topics are outlined below.
11.1 Introduction to Applied Science

11.2 Traditional Technology 5–6 weeks
11.3 Energy around Us 8–10 weeks
11.4 Hydrology 5–6 weeks
11.5 Environmental Management 8–10 weeks
11.6 Health Science 5–6 weeks

Grade 12 Applied Science Examination topics and units
There are 4 main topics in grade 12 Applied Science course. Students must be knowledgeable in all these topics in order to sit for the National Examinations. The four Grade 12 Examination topics and units are outlined below.

12.2 Food Technology 8–10 weeks
12.3 Biotechnology 8–10 weeks
12.4 Mineral Products 8–10 weeks
