THE recently-established Bunsil High School in Tewae-Siassi, Morobe, has no funds to maintain operations, education programme adviser Keith Tangui says.
Tangui was, however, awaiting specific details and school status to be submitted to him through a report by education manager Edward Peter and inspector James Manase. “I don’t have all the details of the school, but it is a new school and it has no funds,” he said. The community in Siassi said the school had been closed for the second time since its establishment last year and wanted authorities to sort out the issues and reopen it as soon as possible. A SENIOR teacher in Southern Highlands, who challenged a decision by the provincial education board (PEB) to remove her as principal of a school, has been granted leave by the National Court in Mt Hagen for a judicial review.
Jennifer Peter was initially appointed by the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) to be the principal of Yebi High School for three years from 2019. But her appointment was revoked by the provincial education board which then appointed Max Tumbe. Peter was subsequently appointed by the PEB as deputy principal for Kagua Secondary School. ![]() The St Benedict’s Campus (SBC) of Divine Word University in Wewak, East Sepik Province graduated its third batch of Matriculation students on Friday, the 25th of September 2020. STAT-P is compulsory for admission at the two universities. The two universities have released the following schedule. STAT P is a 2-hour, 10-minute exam that assesses verbal and quantitative reasoning skills. Specific subject knowledge is not tested in this exam. Discussions centred on outstanding bench warrants, with dialogue among judges, magistrates, lawyers from the public solicitors and prosecutors office, police and correctional services. UPNG school of law lecturer Michael Wagambie, who teaches students in the course trial practice and criminal procedures, said it was the first time students from the school had attended such a forum. He said the course he taught involved the criminal justice system and to have the students take part in such an event that involved dialogue among members of the law and justice sector, including judges and magistrates, was a real privilege. ![]() EARLY learning is an important part of a child’s development as it lays the foundation for the future, according to the Digicel PNG Foundation. These were the sentiments shared during the opening of two open air classrooms at early learning centres in the National Capital District which was supported by the foundation.
