EARLY learning is an important part of a child’s development as it lays the foundation for the future, according to the Digicel PNG Foundation. These were the sentiments shared during the opening of two open air classrooms at early learning centres in the National Capital District which was supported by the foundation. The two respective communities who were beneficiaries of these classrooms were Pakap Grammar School at ATS and Light Bearers Inclusive Early Learning Centre at Bomana. “Our focus on early childhood learning stems from recognising the importance of laying a strong foundation for education at such an age that they develop the love to pursue and complete their education,” foundation chief executive officer Serena Sasingian said.
“We believe that through education, we can unlock the potential of this country. “This is why we have invested in training over 300 teachers to run this informal training.” At the launch of the Light Bearers Inclusive Early Learning Centre, Digicel Foundation met Leana Gary, a 10-year-old student who was happy that an informal school was in the area where he lives.
