PRIME Minister James Marape has honoured a commitment of K1.75 million made by the previous government which he was a finance minister in to seven schools in East Sepik. The seven schools in the Wosera-Gawi which received K250,000 each are Chambri Lake Primary School, Kamanbo Primary School, Saii Primary School, Yambi Primary School, Paulagwi Primary School, Aibom Primary School and Kandige Primary School. He said at Kandige Primary School on Friday that the commitment was made by his predecessor Peter O’Neill during a visit to Chambri. Marape was the Finance Minister then.
Education Minister and Wosera-Gawi MP Joseph Yopyyopy said the schools would use the money to build classrooms. To ensure the money is used properly, the district would find reliable contractors for the projects. Marape also committed K5 million to building a technical high school for the district. He also announced plans to build a boarding high school for the district too. He also committed K8 million (K2m each) to schools in of Angoram, Ambunti-Drekikier, Maprik and Wewak. Marape said it was the leaders’ job to ensure money was equally shared.
