The Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology Department clarified that Grade Point Average (GPA) holds weight, but it's not the sole factor for tertiary institution admissions. Department Secretary Fr Jan Czuba highlighted that each university or tertiary institution establishes its own set of criteria for admissions.
Fr Jan Czuba, the acting secretary, cited an example from the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG), emphasizing that even with all As, a student selecting UPNG as their second choice might not secure acceptance.
