![]() The Papua New Guinea National Department of Education's (NDoE) School Inspections Division received commendation for a notable upturn in completed inspection reports during the year 2023. Annemarie Kona, the First Assistant Secretary, expressed satisfaction, stating, "Inspections reports have doubled from 5,000 reports annually to 10,020 this year." She attributed this achievement directly to the regional Inspector Induction Workshops conducted in collaboration with support from the Australian Government. Mrs. Kona underscored the significance of extending the induction workshops nationwide, coupled with providing Inspection Guides and Manuals, which proved instrumental in enhancing the effectiveness of the training. She highlighted that inspectors actively applied the new report writing skills and guidance acquired during these sessions. The training proved to be empowering for the inspectors, fostering a deeper understanding of the criticality of quality monitoring and performance reporting for schools. Additionally, it clarified their roles and responsibilities in upholding and ensuring the delivery of quality education. This surge in completed inspection reports signifies a substantial stride forward in the Department of Education's efforts toward enhancing the quality assessment and oversight mechanisms within the educational system.
