The Department of Higher Education,Research, Science and Technology (Dherst) facilitate a pathway for you after secondary school. As a Grade 12 School Leaver, you can now apply online for studies via the National Online Application System (also known as the NOAS or the Common Application System). This is a new and better method to apply for further studies at any nationally registered university of higher education institution within Papua New Guinea. The NOAS replaces the paper-based School Leaver Application Forms (SLF) thus allowing any Grade 12 student who is registered to sit for the Grade 12 National Exams. TESAS is designed to increase access to university and college study through the provision of Papua New Guinea national Government scholarships awarded on a merit basis to students of targeted higher and technical education programs.

He released the following statement. ![]() NINETY-ONE per cent of the grade 12 students that sat for their final examinations last month accessed the online portal and applied for tertiary institutions, a senior department official says. Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) Fr Jan Czuba told The National that 28,154 of the 30,806 grade 12 students who sat for exams applied while more than 2,600 students did not. ![]() THE Education secretary is the only person who will approve all selections and give authority to students to enroll for grade 11 in 2021 and not any principal, Department of Education personnel or provincial education officer. This was the directive given to the department’s staff and principals of secondary schools and national high schools by secretary Dr Uke Kombra. After the selections for grade 11 students, the final list would be signed by the secretary and sent to all schools, only then will the final selection lists be made public for students to enroll accordingly. The examination papers for the grade 10 students have been marked and selections for grade 11 will commence from Nov 30-Dec 11. Morobe Education Reform director Haring Qoreka said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Lutheran Church of PNG and the Education Department through the PNG Education Institute (PNGEI) was the first phase. Qoreka said the MoU allowed the department to acquire an abandoned church college facility in Finschhafen and convert it into PNG’s first Early Childhood College. ![]() MALAHANG Technical Secondary School in Lae was a proud recipient of the Bank South Pacific (BSP) community project 2020 with a new-look library and six computers. The library and computers were handed over to the school by BSP Lae Market branch manager Gabriel Ak in a ceremony witnessed by students and staff yesterday. Ak said the computers and accessories were worth K25,000.
