PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Data Analyst will organize and coordinate, research and learning agenda for WVPNG, while working closely with different internal stakeholders including the Program Quality Team, the Project Mangers, Supervisor, Coordinators, External engagements, Support offices and Regional offices, as well as any External entity. Moreover, she/he will responsible to conduct in-depth statistical analysis for internally led outcome monitoring studies, baselines, and evaluations. He/She will ensure that WVPNG is producing useful and high quality evidence and learning on sector-specific topics of interest, while supporting analysis, trending and interpretation of Technical Programs, Strategy development and revision, decision making and stronger positioning WVPNG. The Data Analyst besides, will responsible to support research ideas and grant that would further WVPNG’s learning and program effectiveness.

MAJOR ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Designing and maintaining data systems and databases; this includes fixing coding errors and other data-related problems.
• Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing said data in a format that can be easily be interpreted.
• Prepare data reports (tables, charts, narratives, visuals) at regular intervals and ad hoc as needed to respond to requests for information, inputs to project work plans and semi-annual reports, and other internal and external data analysis and reporting requirements.
• Design and maintain an excel based database system that improves the Program Quality Team ‘s ability to inform program implementation, analyze data, identify trends and present impact to key stakeholders; Using statistical tools to interpret data sets and providing analysis.
• Preparing reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
• Collaborating with Programme Managers, M&E coordinators/officers, and portfolio managers to identify opportunities to improve the information management system for the organisation.
• Developing appropriate approaches/strategies that will allow WV staff, partners and stakeholders in understanding the data analysis process.
• Provide technical and strategic support to the Program Quality Manager and sector technical leads to establish and maintain M&E systems
• Build capacity of staff in project monitoring and data collection against set indicators, and use of such information in development of project reports;
• Carry out Data Quality at regular intervals to retain the aspect of data
• In conjunction with the grants team, assist with grant funding opportunities as necessary especially in terms of providing updated data.
• Lead DME training sessions for staff upon request and on an as needed basis on data management
• Analysis of and reporting to WV PNG SMT of WV PNG’s accomplishments in sector across all APs

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION/SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Degree in a field related to Project Management, Research, Social or Political Science, Development studies or similar field
• Minimum of 3 years in Development work and 2 years in Data and Information management
• Experience in implementing projects funded by external grants
• Strong planning, organizational, data and project management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
• Highly knowledgeable and Well versed in LEAP and DME Functions
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• High level of mathematical ability with ability to analyze, model and interpret data
• Excellent oral and written English communication and problem solving skills
• Strong strategic thinking, organisational, facilitation, consultancy, change management and leadership skills
• MUST be a team player and good team spirit and have experience working with children, youth and disability
