FOUR girls attending the Popondetta Secondary School in Northern Province, Papua New Guinea were abducted at the St Franciscan Anglican Brothers Retreat at the CTC ward in Northern, police say. Southern police commander Chief Superintendent Clement Dalla said the abduction was reported by an Anglican Diocese priest living in the CTC Ward. “According to the priest, eight girls went down to a creek near the retreat when a group of men attacked them, abducting four of them,” he said. “Police are looking into the matter.” The school is located near the hospital in town.
It is a day-school catering for mostly children from around the area. Attempts to get any comments from the school were unsuccessful. But Dalla said police would be working with the priest and the school to find the girls. In another case in the same area, a woman was stabbed on the thigh by her husband, according to police. Dalla said it was a domestic violence case in which the woman was stabbed by her husband who accused her of having an extra- marital affair. “She was hospitalised and is recovering. “Police are searching for the husband who has gone into hiding,” he added. Meanwhile, police are also investigating a burglary at a shop in Popondetta. The shop was burglarised a second time in two weeks. The National / PNG Education news Also read
