The Papua New Guinea Department of Education through the Measurement Services Division (MSD) released the National Examination Schedules and Dates for for 2021. The Grade 10s will sit for the first week of examinations, followed by the Grade 12s in the second week and the Grade 8s in the third week. A MALE student at a secondary school in Mendi, Southern Highlands, was allegedly hacked to death by a relative last Tuesday, local police say. Police Commander Chief Supt Martin Lakari said the deceased, Patrick Jack, 20, from Pingrip, Karinz local level government (LLG), Mendi-Munihu, was attacked at a market and died at the scene. Jack, who was allegedly killed by his uncle, was a grade 11 student at Mongol Secondary School, Upper Mendi LLG. Chief Supt Lakari said Jack was in a market place at Ipa village in Karinz when the suspect came from behind slashed him on the head killing him. Medical Physicist student Luwis Gabriel who is doing his second year undertaking a Master’s degree in Medical Physics has completed his coursework and is now into the second component of his program focusing on research and is expected to complete his studies by the end of this year. In an arrangement between the university and the Sri Lankan Health Ministry, Mr. Gabriel has had the opportunity to do a one-year clinical internship with the Sri Lankan National Cancer Research Institute Margahma. A SOGERI National High School teacher was charged in the Central committal court for molesting a schoolgirl in August. Magistrate Alex Kalandi yesterday read out the charges to Kelly Andrew, granted him a K1,000 bail and adjourned hearing to Oct 21. The teacher is alleged to have on Aug 23, between 3pm and 4pm, touched the girl when she was running back to the dormitory to remove her uniform from the clothesline. THE future of this country depends on education and parents should make it a priority to send their children to school, Hagen Open MP William Duma says. Duma, who is State Enterprise Minister, was in Mt Hagen to open a K4 million project at Mt Kuta during the Independence week. They included electricity project for the Kopi tribe and a double classroom with toilets and shower facilities for teachers and students at Mt Kuta Primary School. Duma said such projects were for the people to change and the key area was education. Approximately one in seven people in the world live with a disability. In Papua New Guinea, the National Policy on Disability is seeking to remove barriers and improve access to human rights for people living with disabilities. Australia Awards is supporting these efforts with a Graduate Certificate in Disability Inclusion short course. The course provides leaders and managers in secondary schools, colleges and universities with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of disability policy settings which they can then pass on to their students. Participants will be equipped to identify and challenge barriers to inclusion and to develop appropriate approaches within the PNG context. The Queenslander, 62, of Wongaling Beach, was alleged to have received salaries through false representation without a proper working visa for his purported employment with International Education Agency (IEA) PNG. Police alleged that between Jan 2 and June 26, 2019, K134,261.17 was paid illegally to Carden by IEA as his fortnightly salaries when he was yet to start employment. The BSP Marketing Committee & CEO selection Project through its annual community project, renovated the deteriorated building to allow special needs students to learn in a fresh and conducive environment. Refurbishment included painting of exterior walls, replacing of rotten timbers and gutters, replacing of fly wires, tiling of floors and graveling.
