![]() FIFTEEN participants from the Health Department, Port Moresby General Hospital and School of Medicine and Health Sciences attended a Nursing Education and Management Course in China. The training was held in Chongqing Medical and Pharmaceutical College from Sept 6-24 and was supported by the Ministry of Education of China. The coordinator for the 12th China Medical team, Eric Niu, said the training was aimed at providing all-round support for the training of nursing talents in PNG. “Also to promote the friendly cooperation between China and PNG in healthcare, contribute to the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-PNG community with a shared future” Niu said. He is also associate professor of the college and said the training had covered the basic knowledge and skills in nursing in terms of professional and technical training. “Six key areas are also included, such as talent training, information-based teaching, and nursing scientific research, nursing management, new progress in nursing and cultural exchange,” he added. “In terms of medical knowledge, it covered the knowledge of Chinese medicine, Western medicine, nursing and other disciplines.” He said trainees learnt the theoretical knowledge of nursing vocational education, nursing curriculum construction, nursing scientific research in Chongqing College and experienced the culture of traditional Chinese medicine. “In practical learning, the trainees also learned about the new progress of medical technology such as emergency nursing, infection control, traditional Chinese medicine treatment, maternal child nursing, and neurological nursing in six large hospitals in Chongqing, which are areas where PNG’s healthcare sector is in urgent need of improvement,” he said. Secretary for Health Dr Osborne Liko had acknowledged the college for its thoughtful organisation for that course. “I hope that PNG and your college can continue to deepen health cooperation in the future,” Liko said. “More and more PNG health staff will have the opportunity to go to China for short term training or further studies.” TheNational/PNGEducatioonnews Also read Comments are closed.
