The Department of Business Studies (DBS) offers undergraduate programs in Business Studies with the emphasis in Accounting, Management, Information Technology, and Applied Economics. It also offers postgraduate programs including Master of Philosophy in Information Technology and an Executive Master's Degree program in Business Administration (EMBA). DBS is in the process of offering PhD studies. There are over 600 students and 30 full-time faculty members of different nationalities in the department. Computer facilities are available within the department and the university. Vacancies exist in the discipline of Law. Applicants must be qualified and experienced, able to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They must be able to carry out research in one or more areas in Commercial Law, Administrative Law, Company Law, and International Trade Law. The appointees will be responsible to the Head of the Department for academic and research leadership and assist in the operation and administration of department where necessary. They will perform instructional duties, including supervision of postgraduate students and pursue research and appropriate consulting activities in order to maintain high professional standards within the discipline. They will also be required to make contributions to the department's periodic curriculum review and development and to future accreditation processes. Membership of a relevant professional association is desirable. A minimum of five (5) years of full-time university teaching experience and five (5) or more publications in learned professional journals that are indexed by SCOPUS, ISI (SCI) or ERA is required. The appointee must contribute to the full range of teaching (undergraduate and postgraduate), research and professional activities in the department. He or she is expected to contribute to the academic leadership of the department, including supervision of postgraduate work and consultancy, etc, taking a significant role in departmental administration. The subjects to be taught by the successful applicant include Commercial Law, Administrative Law and Company Law. Lecturer in Law Lecturer - Applicants must have an LLB or Juris Doctor or similar Masters Degree. At least two (2) years full time university teaching experience and a mature grasp of the subject and a capacity to contribute to its further development in the department is expected. The applicants with research publication records have advantages for recruitment. The appointee is expected to undertake and consolidate the full range of functions in the department and contribute to the development of teaching in the subject areas. Collaborating and cooperating with other stakeholders to achieve positive business outcomes is required. The subjects to be taught by the successful applicant include Commercial Law, Administrative Law, Company Law and Introduction to Law. SALARY - NON CITIZEN: Base Salary Range: Senior Lecturer PGK55,323 - PGK67,618 per annum Base IMA Range: PGK61,338 - PGK74,643 per annum Base Salary Range: Lecturer PGK45,720 - PGK55,882 per annum Base IMA Range: PGK52,436 - PGK63,039 per annum IMA = International Market Allowance (Level of appointment depends upon qualification and experience) Initial contract period is normally for three years. Other benefits include a gratuity of 30% of salary in the first year, 35% in the second year and 40% in the third year (paid on fortnightly basis), support for approved research, appointment and repatriation fares for yourself and dependents, book & equipment allowance of K750.00 per annum, settling-in/out allowance of K1,700.00 for single & K3,600.00 for accompanied plus K200.00 each for two authorized dependent child (under 19 yrs) on appointment and repatriation, six weeks paid leave per year, recreation leave fares for yourself, spouse & two authorised dependants after 18 months of service, education fares and assistance towards school fees for authorised dependents are available. Staff members are also permitted to earn from consultancy up to 50% of earnings annually. Furnished accommodation is provided on campus.
