![]() After finding out about the overall grade 12 top student in the country in 2019, I sent a message to the University of Technology so he could be located. After a few days, he was located in the Electrical Engineering Department and I had this interview with him. How do you manage your study time? Most of my home work are done in class. During night study, I do not spend much time doing home work but make sure there is high level of focus on my study. I also take breaks between study time to refresh my mind. Do have problems? If so how do you handle them ? I bring my problems to God and find ways to enjoy the moment. How often do you study ? During school days, I feel obliged to study everyday. During weekends I do study but also dedicate some time for church or entertainment with friends. What's your view on social media, is it helpful to students or not ? I think it can be useful if students use it for the right purpose. But using social media could also have devastating effects on studies if time is not prioritized. I only log into my Facebook account when I am free. How would you describe a free time ? For me, free time would be a time to call family members or socialize with friends. But should not take up most of your time. For me usually 30 minutes after night study is enough. How do you manage between your relationship and your studies? I try my best to concentrate on my studies. So we only see each other on Fridays. What’s your advice to students who are facing various problems affecting their studies? Students should bring their problems to God and work hard. Also, see the problems on the positive side as challenges to make us stronger. And this brings us to the end of the interview with Philemon Tainole, the overall grade twelve top student in Papua New Guinea. Success leaves clues. I believe these answers can also be of great help to our young people who are still in primary and secondary school level. What works for one does not work for others. This applies to study as well. Key here is time management and priorities your study. There is no magic to success. Anyway thanks for sharing your side of the story.

I have a similar experience of doing all my homeworks at school so that i could purely concentrate on my studies at home in preparation for tests and also for the 2008 grade 12 National Examinations. I saw that doing homework deprived me from studing. Since De La Salle Secondary was close to home, i completed my homeworks and assignments in between free times at the school and after school. With God's help i stayed focused and after grade 12, i was fortunate enough to get into Law School - University of Papua New Guinea. Now i practise as a Lawyer. Lastly, yes, what works for one does not work for another but if there is one out there that is still struggling, try this and see if it works for you like it turned out positive for some of us. If that does not suit you, continue searching and by the grace of God you will surely find it and become successful in life because through Christ, all things are possible.

Some of the thing that if haven't done it and some of the thing I was go through it. But the most important things is time. There is no different between the bright student and the average student, everyone is born `to accomplish the purpose that they posses naturally so that it could be their tool to change the world in different ways. Therefore how we manage the time will determine the future encounter.Every successful person they have their on story to tell and it about how they manage their time. thankyou

I thought this kid in mathematics when he was doing his Gr.9 at Hoskins Secondary School. I was not surprise when I met him here at Unitech because in all the test he sat that time he would get full mark or 1 mistake.

I was the top student in the country in my era and this gentleman is right. God is foremost in everything. He gives and he takes as he pleases. I got 98.5 average in all the core subjects - Maths (incl.. Commerce/ Business), English and Science (Biology, chem, physics).
