Madang, Papua New Guinea - This week, Divine Word University (DWU) welcomed a visiting team from the University of Sunshine Coast, Australia. The team, comprising Dr. Natalie McMaster and Dr. Clement Waine, engaged with staff, students, and conducted interviews with various faculties. The DWU executive and organizing team extended a warm reception to the visiting scholars. This visit is part of a joint initiative funded by the Australian Awards PNG (AAAPNG) under the Australian Awards Digital Readiness Project. The project's objective is to assess DWU’s online and blended learning capabilities and provide recommendations to help DWU develop a future-ready learning environment for both students and faculty members. The project unfolds in three phases. The first phase, a Digital Readiness Pre-Survey, involved DWU executives and staff exploring strategies, governance, risk, ICT management, business management, student readiness, and identifying barriers to digital readiness.
In the second phase, a self-assessment was conducted. This phase required selecting one or two online or blended learning courses from the Foundation Year and completing a self-assessment on the course, unit, or subject. The third phase, In-Country Interviews, involved small focus group interviews with DWU executives, Foundation Year staff, ICT support, course coordinators, and students to delve deeper into digital readiness. Divine Word University continues to seek collaborative partnerships to enhance its growth and development as a leading educational institution in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region.
