TRANSPERANCY International PNG (TIPNG) has agreed to continue its legal internship programme for another five years with the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) school of law. TIPNG chief executive officer Arianne Kassman said, at the signing of a memorandum of understanding yesterday, that they were recruiting the fourth batch of students. Kassman said the programme was under TIPNG’s anti-corruption help desk (AnCoHD) programme that offered free legal advice to Papua New Guineans who wanted to report cases of corruption. “TIPNG has been fortunate over the last three years to have 11 students from the UPNG school of law learn on the job with us as we seek to empower Papua New Guineans to take action against corruption” she said.
Kassman said the partnership through the agreement would enable law students at UPNG gain experience on corruption issues. “This partnership will enable students to receive workplace experience,” she said.
