TEACHERS in Hela will be required to sit for an exam to test them on knowledge of their subject matter and teaching skills to ensure quality, a senior education official says. Hela education adviser Ronny Angu said this exams would be for mathematics, English and information and communication technology (ICT) for primary schools including exams for subject areas and specialist teachers. Angu said the data and exam results obtained from each teacher would determine their postings for 2023.
“The slight changes have been made with an intent to bring quality back into teaching and these drastic changes that the division is undertaking with its method of appointing teachers will be effective as of this year,” he told The National. He added that schools in the country needed to ensure their teaching staff were following current trends and able to use technology in their subjects.
