Sixty-eight Papua New Guinea students have left the country yesterday on an Air Niugini charter to continue their studies in China. The travel was made possible through a joint support from the Chinese and PNG governments. Chinese Ambassador Zeng Fanhua was at Jacksons International Airport to see the students off. Zeng said the Chinese state councillor and foreign minister Wang Yi reached consensus on a number of important issues with Prime Minister James Marape and then Foreign Affairs Minister Soroi Eoe during his visit to PNG in June. He said one of the agreements was to help PNG students studying in Chinese universities to return to China to resume studies as soon as possible.
Zeng said that both the Chinese and PNG governments attached great importance to education and talent development. Zeng said both governments were actively committed to the continuous development of China-PNG relations and the promotion of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, downstream processing industries and tourism for the benefit of the people of both countries.
