TSC to take tough actions on School Principals, head teachers over Misuse of Government TFF funds1/24/2022
TEACHING Service Commission (TSC) will be tough on principals and head teachers if they misuse the Government’s tuition fee free (TFF) funds, an official says. Commission chairman Samson Wangihomie, speaking yesterday during a radio talkback show, appealed to the principals and head masters to use the TFF funds transparently and account for its use. “The head teachers must manage this money, these are public money they are to manage them transparently and every toea that was paid must be accounted for,” he said. “We have been getting allegations for head teachers misusing and mismanaging those monies and we will come down hard on them, because we have zero tolerance on corruption.” AN elementary school teacher was beheaded in Zoptop, Madang, by known suspects who killed him as he was getting off a public motor vehicle at his home on Friday.
Peter Kabu, a father of five, would have resumed duties this week. His sister Madia Kabu told The National that he had just signed his resumption form at the Education office in Madang town. “He didn’t have enemies and all he did was get off the vehicle,” she said. The Kabu family have asked for police to investigate and arrest the culprits who killed their son and uncle. PNG PRIME Minister James Marape says the Government is making the Grade 12 certificate a universally recognised lower education. “Grades eight and 10 certificates would only be issued as a benchmark in an assessment, but, the competent senior lower education recognition will be the Grade 12 certificate,” he said. Marape’s concern was that the younger generation possessed skills to be on various social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp but lacked vital skills to sustain themselves and prepare them as adults into the future. THE Marape Government has allocated K51 million to the tertiary loan scheme for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST), acting secretary Francis Hualupmomi says. He announced this during the launching of the 2021-2025 national skills development plan and technical education plan 2021-2030 on Friday. Hualupmomi said the programme implemented by Prime Minister James Marape would see some of the post graduates start repaying the loan this year. “This year, we will reap the first dividends of Help through repayment of loan by the post graduate working class students who have completed their studies last year,” he said.
