PNG University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNGUNRE) vice-chancellor Prof Aisak Pue says students’ fees this year will increase by six per cent. He told The National in Kokopo yesterday that the six per cent increase would accommodate increases in prices of goods and services. He said the effect of fees increase was minimal. Prof Pue said all required compulsory fees, outstanding fees owed by continuing students and 50 per cent of the annual board and lodging fees must be paid before Feb 12, with the balance to be cleared by June 30. Prof Pue said the annual fees schedule, as approved by the PNGUNRE council for 2021 under corporate sponsorship from year one to four, was K13,136.
Approved fees for self-sponsored students and for year one is K8,659, for year two and three K7,737 and year four K7,069. Approved fees for AES-TESAS for year one is K3,590, year two and three is K2,668 and year four is K2,000. Approved total fees for students under HECAS-TESAS (government scholarships) for year one is K5,353, year two and three K4,431 and for the final year is K3,763. “Other fees such as annual tuition fee, medical, students council, library, laptop insurance and boarding and lodging (residential) are all included in the total approved fees,” Prof Pue said.
