![]() The Papua New Guinea Government will construct a 8-storey Education Office that will house the Ministry of Education. This was announced by Education Minister Education Minister Jimmy Uguro while launching the Examination results last Friday. " MOST Education officers refused to return to Fincorp Haus after being locked out for six weeks' Therefore, he said, they had to occupy another building from next month to allow for the construction of an eight-storey building. Uguro said Prime Minister James Marape had given the nod for construction to take place on a piece of land at the Papua New Guinea Education Institute. “The chief secretary has been instructed to work with us and the Lands Department regarding the land which is under survey and the title will be issued shortly for construction to begin,” he said.
Uguro said it would take a while, but for now, he had instructed the officers to look for another place while awaiting the new building. “It’s good that they locked us out, so we are constructing our own building,” he said. Meanwhile, Uguro urged parents to work with schools to build infrastructures as they would now not worry about school and project fees. “Parents, the Government has paid K632 million under the government subsidy programme, and K160 million for project fees, so you have nothing to do, go and help schools, so we phase out Grade 12 dropouts by 2027,” he said. Uguro also urged those who designed the exams to do checks and balances properly before going to print. He commended those who fixed the geography paper errors. Meanwhile, Uguro wished teachers and students a good holiday. The National / PNG Education news
