![]() A JOINT committee from three universities in the country is conducting a week-long special tertiary admissions test (Stat-P) for more than 2,000 school and non-school leaver applicants in National Capital District (NCD). Stat-P Port Moresby centre chief supervisor Tabitha Wosse said the committee from the University of Technology, University of Goroka and the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) had conducted the test for 2, 310 applicants. Wosse said the applicants were from NCD, Central and Gulf who were scheduled for the test from Monday to Friday at the Port Moresby National School of Excellence.
She said the test would be extended to Saturday (tomorrow) and Sunday to allow for the Grade 12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics students who would be completing their exams today to also do the Stat-P. “The purpose of conducting Stat-P is to promote transparency and equity in the selection process, thus avoiding nepotism and cheating,” she said. “Due to the limited quota (spaces) in universities, it helps institutions to identify and select the top students. “Stat-P is a tool used to measure and see how well they (the students) can adapt and cope with the tertiary study level.” She said similar tests were also conducted in other centres to cater for school and non-school leaver applicants from other provinces. Meanwhile, she said PAU had also allowed for its applicants to do the Stat-P as an admission requirement. Statement/TheNational/PNGEducationNews Also read Comments are closed.
