THE Morobe Education Division will not accept teachers who have joined the system through fraudulent means next year, education programme adviser Keith Tangui says. According to Morobe’s Basic Education senior school inspector Kwinda Trenian, 32 teachers had been identified across Morobe as having attained their positions through fraudulent means after the inspection process this year. Trenian said out of those, 19 were new graduates from a teachers colleges in Lae while the rest were substantive level teachers who had passed through the system undetected. He said these teachers were identified from the qualification documents used to enter teacher colleges and also from fake teaching certificates with forged signatures of the education secretary.
Tangui said this was an increase from the 11 identified last year and the division would continue its hard stance on those who had acquired their positions through dishonest and fraudulent means. “These teachers will not be given any postings and not allowed into a classroom next year,” he said. “If they wish to challenge that, they can appeal to the Teacher’s Service Commission or take the education division to court. “We want well trained teachers to be in the classroom; they must have grade 10 and 12 certificates and good grades at college.” “Those who got low marks 20 to 30 years ago must upgrade your qualifications; come forward and we can assist them to update their qualifications.” Trenian said the aim was to clean up the education system in Morobe through the inspection process. “We will work very hard to ensure that quality education is delivered to our children in the remotest part of Morobe to the suburban and urban areas,” he said. “Some are hiding in remote parts of Morobe being fully paid; you can hide but we will catch you one day.” The National / PNG Education News Next : Social Distancing Difficult To Enforce At Schools In PNG Comments are closed.
