![]() TWO schools in the National Capital District were declared the top performers in grade 10 and 12 examinations in the country. Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra said Marianville Secondary School (grade 12) and St Charles Lwanga (grade 10) were number one in their respective grades when announcing the five top performing schools in each grade. For grade 10, Busu Secondary School in Morobe came second, followed by Cameron Secondary in Milne Bay, Manus Secondary and Marianville in fifth place. For grade 12, Mt Hagen Secondary in Western Highlands came second, St Ignatius Secondary in West Sepik came third followed by Busu Secondary and St Charles Lwanga.
Dr Kombra congratulated the students, teachers and head teachers of the schools for their performance and for setting a standard. He commended schools for performing well and encouraged all schools to strive for excellence. Dr Kombra congratulated schools such as Tokarara Secondary in NCD and Paglum Secondary School in Western Highlands for being in the top-performing schools list. Tokarara Secondary school’s grade 12 came 10th in the country and Paglum Secondary School’s grade 12 came 14th in the country. He said some schools in the remote areas such as Oksapmin High School (11th overall in grade 10) in West Sepik performed well and maintained a top 15 position despite challenges faced. Dr Kombra acknowledged Sacred Heart Secondary in Tapini, Central. He said the school had continued classes during the lockdown and had the 12th best grade 12 results.
