![]() PNG EDUCATION Minister Jimmy Uguro says the Government spent K620 million on government tuition fees and K160 million on primary and secondary school project fees for this year alone. Uguro made the statement in Parliament yesterday when responding to a question raised by Southern Highlands Governor William Powi concerning the total cost Government allocated to school project fees. Uguro explained that the Government has an outstanding of K151 million that includes project fees yet to be paid for term four for primary and secondary schools. “Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey is working together with the Education Department to roll that out as the Government’s priority in education,” he said.
The Usino-Bundi MP further stressed on the spaces in vocational and technical schools that were available for students who did not make it into universities. “The Government is establishing vocational centres to accommodate those who cannot make it through normal system,” Uguro said. “We now have 36,000 spaces for students in vocational schools nationwide.” TheNational/PNGEducationnews Also read Comments are closed.
