![]() ENGA will continue to advance in education as long as its political leadership maintains strong relations with important stakeholders like Education Department, diplomatic corps, overseas partners and the corporate sector, says an official. Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra made this remarks at the closing of a week-long senior education officers’ conference at Enga Teachers College campus at Irelya in Wabag on Friday. Kombra said Enga would continue to prosper both in education and other aspects of development because the province had a good political leadership under Governor Sir Peter Ipatas and supported by provincial administrator Sandis Tsaka. Kombra said the modern Enga hospital, Enga College of Nursing, University of Goroka’s Enga Campus, Enga Teachers College, Innovative University of Enga, Hela Opena Technical College and Highlands Lutheran International School were some of the iconic educational institutions and health facilities that shocked delegates during their visit.
“In fact our delegates will have their bags full of experience and memories when they leave,” he said. “Among the highlights, the peace and orderly environment experienced by our senior education officers and their support staff in both day and night had effectively erased false insinuations about the province that they might have had before they came here. “Enga is a peaceful place to visit and live. “This is the place where I got educated and the people are among the best in the world.” More than 300 delegates from across the country who had attended the conference returned to their provinces on Saturday. Enga administrator Sandis Tsaka and senior education officers from Jiwaka handed the conference baton with a pig to provincial education officers from Mamose to signal the approval of the region to host the next conference. Tsaka and Sir Peter, who described the conference as biggest to be held in the province, said they were happy to partner with the Education Department to host the event as it created opportunity to showcase their new tertiary institutions. Kombra said he was confident that West Sepik would have no problem in hosting the event next year with his department’s support. Statement Also read Comments are closed.
