![]() With over 340 schools and a population of 10, 970 students, one of the challenges Eastern Highlands Province face is ensuring quality education is given to all equally. It is the Governor Numu's vision to build Eastern Highlands Education and human resource development by seeing to it that there is Teacher Quality; Curriculmn Quality and Infastructure Quality in the province. 'We have been working on educational infrastructures in the province, because we believe that good infrastructure can boost learning and education quality', Hon Peter Numu said at the launching of Solar Printing Technology. 'We are now focusing on Curriculmn Quality and Teacher Quality'. "A curriculum is achieved only when a child fully understands the content in it', Dr Kombra, Education Secretary adds.
Quality education is achievable only when there is equal opportunity to learn. Unfortunately there had been an imbalance in the education system in the province as in the remotest parts of EHP, resources are scarce. 'In a classroom, there's about 40-45 students per textbook', Governor Numu said, 'In some remote places, resources are scarce that teachers had to improvise to make things work for them'. Endorsed by Numu government, the ES CNS LTD tries to provide a solution by introducing a new technology that can be used as an alternative way to save money and provide a way to help achieve the Province's One Child, One Textbook policy. Minister for education commends Governor Numu's effort in commiting 3.2 million Kina under the Government's Tuition Free Fee (GTFF) fund to pilot solar printing in schools across the province. Infinite Print Printer, that would be used in supplied to schools all over the province, is a printing machine that's designed to provide printing services using solar energy. This technology is specially design to cater for printing needs of those in the remotest areas in the province. 'You can now print at the comfort of your school just using solar energy. You can even print your own resources materials like textbooks and teacher's lesson guides', The Managing Director told the students and teachers who have come to witness this launching. With Solar Printing, challenges that acts as impediment to quality education 'will be a thing of the past', Albert Wesley assured the teachers and students. The Province, under the leadership of Hon. Peter Numu, would see that all schools in the province are being supplied with Solar printers. Eastern Highlands aims to be the first province to achieve 1 Child, 1 Textbook policy by helping its schools become more self reliant. Providing printers to each schools across EHP, these schools can now have access to their very own printed resources. This technology's purpose is to promote equal participation in human resource development through education. During the launching, The Minister for Education, Hon Yopyyopy mentioned that in between 2011 and 2019, Eastern highlands, in terms of Education, had mantain a constant Average of 12th placing. In response to Hon YopyYopy's statement, 'Give me 10 years to see EHP amongst the top 5 province in terms of education', Governor Numu said. Next : Student Raped, Three Arrested Comments are closed.
