THIRTHY students graduated under the faculty of medicine and health sciences at Divine Word University’s St Benedict Campus, in Wewak earlier this month. St Benedict campus vice-president Father Lawrence Arockiaraj said the 30 pioneer students graduated with advanced diploma in general nursing. “The programme also prepared the students with the knowledge and skills to perform their nursing duties effectively in any setting,” he said. “This programme has prepared the graduates at the diploma level for professional nursing practice and ongoing employment in the national health care services and registration with the Nursing Council of Papua New Guinea.” Arockiaraj said the Boram School of Nursing under the faculty of medicine and health sciences was established under his leadership as vice-president in 2019.
“The graduation ceremony celebrated on April 1 in Wewak also marked the faculty of medicine and health sciences’ first successful graduation ceremony,” he said. The ceremony was witnessed by the Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology acting secretary Dr Francis Hualupmomi, DWU council member Bishop Jozef Roszynski, East Sepik governor Allan Bird, vice-president academic affairs Professor Iwona Kolodziejczyk, parents, students and staff of the university at the campus’ hall.
