![]() The University of Papua New Guinea is posed to offer, for the first time, Bachelor’s Degree programs at the Yangoru-Saussia District University Center in 2023. Discussion for the programs to be offered for the first time outside the university’s main Waigani campus have reached advanced stages with a MoA to be signed in the coming weeks. A visiting UPNG delegation led by the Acting Registrar of UPNG, Roboam Kakap, was impressed with the Yangoru-Saussia District centers facilities which has two model classrooms and the Director’s four-bedroom house. The academic facilities are complemented by the Yangoru-Saussia School of Excellence model and well-equipped Science Laboratories making the Physics, Chemistry and Biology programs highly commendable. These Science labs were built as part of the Aus-PNG Partnership program built at the cost of K18 million. The SOE was built to Australian standards and is considered the best in the country. Such facilities made the programs to be offered outside the UPNG’s main campus possible with any loss of quality. Yangoru -Saussia MP and the Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru said the Open Learning Center will have two campuses given the geographical locations posing major challenges to students’ travels. The main UPNG Open Campus will be at the Warasauwa; the other campus will be located at the SOE at Yangoru. The Director of the Open campus will be stationed at Warasauwa and will operate out from there for all administrative purposes.
