![]() The Papua New Guinea Government is aware of the main issues of unemployment, youth engagement, and Law and Order and is working on addressing these through a revised Education policy and expansion program. Prime Minister James Marape made these remarks recently, encouraging Papua New Guineans to continue having faith in their Government. He said the Government is progressively working on revitalizing the Education system by streamlining all children directly through to Grade 12 and onto pathways that can support them in life. Mr Marape added that the Government has approved a specific concessional loan program with ADB to open 20,000 tertiary education spaces in the next 10 years. He said the Government is also paying for all the children’s school fees from elementary to Grade 12, as well as those who are returning in ‘second chance education’. “Our Government has all the children covered. We are paying school fees from elementary, primary, high school, and even those who are coming back to second-chance school for matriculation – those who have left Grade 8, 10 and 12. We also taking care of them. “We are still running our present scholarship program for universities and colleges including the higher education loan program. This is all geared toward ensuring that every Papua New Guinean child growing up in this country is catered for in Education. “But not just as we have been doing in the past, but more importantly, giving a holistic wholesome education that is linked to my government’s emphasis that every child should be having a basic qualification of Grade 12.
