Provincial programme adviser Keith Tangui made the statement in relation to teacher absenteeism in the area which had affected student performance for the 2022 academic year. Tangui said some schools were operating with a few teachers or in some cases the staff were not consistently attending to their responsibilities.
![]() THE Papua New Guinea Teachers Association (PNGTA) has called for a six per cent pay rise before the end of the school year. PNGTA president Aita Sanangkepe said this was because teachers had missed out on the state’s three per cent pay rise for all public servants. Sanangkepe said teachers were important workers in any country and needed to be given that respect and consideration. “If you want quality human resources you make teachers happy and they will produce that quality,” he said. ![]() The Grade 10 examination markings and recording of marks have been completed by the provinces. According to the Measurement Services Division (MSD), the Grade 10 examination results have been received from the provinces and these results are now being entered into the computer systems for processing.
