![]() TEACHERS must perform well and provide quality education to children from a young age, says a businesswoman. Dame Sandra Lau, the managing director of Tropicana Ltd in Kokopo, attended the farewell ceremony of the nine trainee teachers at the Sonoma Adventist College, Vunapope Callan Services Centre elementary school in Kokopo, East New Britain last Thursday. The school caters for early intervention for children between four and five, and a mixed class including children with disabilities. The nine teachers did their practical teaching in the past four weeks at Callan Services. Dame Sandra said teachers should set good examples to children who learn from teachers “For the past few weeks, I came to visit the school and I can see that these trainee teachers worked very hard by giving the right education to our children,” she said.
Dame Sandra urged teachers to put in more effort and commitment in their work. “There are many means and ways of teaching but the very important part is you as teachers must impart the best and quality education to our young children,” she said. Joycelyn Kakbo, a lecturer in education at the Sonoma Adventist College, said a teacher must know how to handle classes and teach children at different ability levels.
