By Samuel Raitano/FM100 THE Assembly of God (AOG) Church will be establishing a new Teachers College in Mul LLG of the Mul-Baiyer Lumusa Electorate of Western Highlands Province, under the guidance of Jubilee University administration. The ground breaking ceremony for the new AOG Kiminga Teachers College was held yesterday in Pin council ward at the proposed site. Members of Kiminga AOG church had reason to celebrate because through their prayers to God, people in authority finally arrived to give assurance for the establishment of the college in their humble village. The event was well organized, colourful and on a fine weather. Staff and students of neighboring Mabulga Primary School also took part in celebrating, because their school would soon become the demonstration school for the college, and some of the children would attend the tertiary institution in the near future.
This will be the second Teachers College in Western Highlands Province, after Holy Trinity Teachers College in Mt Hagen. Some of the special guests included senior representatives from AOG Jubilee University, AOG Church hierarchy, Western Highlands Provincial Administration, Foreign Missionary Reps and local leaders. AOG Jubilee University was represented by Brian Sam, Director Project Management Unit and Jimmy Olali , the Registrar, while Western Highlands Provincial Administration was represented by Knox Kiap, Deputy Provincial Administrator and Ruben Puri, Manager for Human Resource. All of them gave assurance to support the work of the church pastors and local Kumdi community who made land available to the church to set up the institution. AOG Highlands Region Superintendent, Pastor Peter Ropera cut the ribbon signifying the groundbreaking so that work to clear the land allocated for the college work would progress to the next stage. Meanwhile, Tom Rupulga, Councillor of the host ward, thanked the pastors involved in liasion between him and his people and the top level stakeholders who arrived on ground to officiate the start of an important project for the ward, district, province and the country as a whole. He also thanked his own tribesmen and leaders in the surrounding 7 council wards for their understanding and support for this important project. Local community have been told that they have received the nod, and their part now was to have basic building infrastructure in place to start up. The community leaders said they understood the responsibility, and they were also glad to be chosen apart from other areas around the country, hence they would do their part to start contributing for the ground breaking to materialise into building infrastructure. The Kiminga AOG Teachers College is to be situated in a peaceful community and with sufficient fresh water supply from Paia River for sanitation and hygiene purposes.
