![]() STUDENTS on the Tertiary Education Study Assistance Scheme (Tesas) should be receiving their tickets this week, according to the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology. Department Secretary Dr Francis Hualupmomi made the statement after several students raised their complaints in the media that they had been waiting for three weeks for their tickets. He said the tickets for the Tesas students who had not travelled yet should be ready this week. School has already started for some students who are worried about missing classes. “We’ve been checking with the Air Niugini office for our tickets, but we’ve been getting negative responses,” one said.
“Some of the Tesas students have gone to school already for registration and enrolment, but some of us are still here and yet to register.” The students attend the Gaulim Teachers College in Kokopo, East New Britain. The list of Tesas students was released last month by the department. They were selected through the national online selection process on Dec 23. The Government reminded the students “to devote their time and commitment to their studies”. “All students must comply with the institutional rules and regulations while undertaking studies at their respective institutions,” a statement said. “Students that require financial assistance to help them with their school fees, in the 2023 academic year, are encouraged to apply for the Help loan programme after they have registered at their respective institutions.” The National / PNG Education News Also read : Comments are closed.
