Australia Awards is seeking suitable applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) Education short course. The course is targeting employees from the National Department of Education (NDoE) and other education agencies who are in roles where they have responsibility for teaching, designing and implementing STEM Education policies and programs including at the national, sectoral and provincial levels. Public servants must complete the Australia Awards – PNG Short Course Awards Application Form for Government of Papua New Guinea applicants. Please note, Australia Awards will facilitate the endorsement process from the Department of Personnel Management. Applicants from the private sector and civil society organisations must complete the Application Form for private sector and civil society applicants. Applicants from the public sector must complete the Australia Awards PNG application form for Government of Papua New Guinea applicants and have the endorsement of the head of their department, agency or administration. Public sector applicants are also required to complete the Training Bid Form and submit this to the Department of Personnel Management through their Human Resource/Training division. To apply for this short course, applicants must: • demonstrate direct involvement in STEM Education in your area of work • have a minimum of five years professional teaching or curriculum development experience (which could be in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematic, Advanced Mathematic, ICT, Agriculture, Biology, Fine Arts, Design Technology, Science, Applied Science or Engineering) • have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and teacher registration • have a minimum academic English proficiency level equivalent of IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 575 (shortlisted applicants may be required to undertake a test facilitated by Australia Awards) • have a commitment to prepare and implement an innovative work-based project as part of the course requirement • engage actively and foster networks with multiple stakeholders, including in Australia, and to disseminate learning from the course with students, colleagues and peers in your respective organisations. Course Delivery The approximate course delivery dates are as follows: • Pre-course workshop One week, in PNG June/July 2022 • Block 1 Three weeks, in PNG September 2022 • Block 2 Three weeks, in PNG November/December 2022 • Block 3 Six weeks, PNG/Australia February/March 2023 • Post-course workshop One week, in PNG May 2023 This is a fully funded scholarship. All course fees, travel, accommodation and per diems will be provided by Australia Awards PNG. Given the current COVID-19 environment and accompanying travel restrictions, the course may be delivered entirely in PNG using a mix of remote online learning methods and attendance at the course workshops. It is expected that participants will undertake online study between course delivery. In accordance with GoPNG efforts to provide vaccinations, Australian funded awardees are encouraged to be vaccinated. It is likely that travel to Australia will be possible as part of this award. Current travel regulations require all students to be fully vaccinated to enter Australia. Australia Awards is a child-safe program.
