The Kaipu Elementary School was erected in 1995 by Chevron Niugini through its Tax Credit Scheme. The building is fully kitted with materials with one teacher, Mr. Henry Sasue. The building is in the heart of the Kutubu Oil Project area. Since its erection, no renovations had been taken place, until in 2016, with the support from the Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC), through its subsidiary company, Petroleum Resources Kutubu (PRK), budgeted only K20,000 from CTIF funding to upgrade the building. Contract undertaken by the local landowner investment company, Sikawama Limited, headed by Mr. Emmanuel Atakaro have completed the renovation for 2 weeks. The building was in a good condition till the earthquake's devastating impacts on building had severely damage the building and now needs much attention from the government to help fund this project. About 20-30 children attends the school. Since it's interception, the school has produced 2 university students, 1 police officer, 3 teachers, 1 mechanic and 5 12th graders are now with paid jobs. It is very vital service to the community and that needs to be looked at by the Local Member for Parliament, Mr. Jeffrey Komal, Nipa-Kutubu MP. Nor provincial government neither local MP had one time supported this project, and that is the most saddest truth
