The name list of selected students to the universities and colleges came out in the media. He's name wasn't in any of the three institutions of his choices' list. He was so broke, he felt his world just ended right there. He was ashamed of his friends and neighbors, and most of all afraid of his parents as that's not their anticipation. His poor parents have been working hard for the last 12 years to keep him in school. They have placed their hopes of better days in him to become successful and provide for the family. But now, it's all in despair. The father looked out through the window, the mother looked into the fire flames and the son set with his head bowed in shame. He knew he failed his parents. He wanted to explain that he did his best but he just didn't know how. Finally he pulled himself together and uttered, "mum and dad, I'll try do FODE". The father still embarrassed ignored him while the soft hearted mother who was already sobbing, although doesn't know what FODE is said, "we'll try". In the coming days and weeks, he toiled the land with his parents. The harvests were taken to the market. The earnings were used to pay for his FODE books. While selling at the market he'd work on his work books. His school mates would come home for holidays and see him in the market and thought that's his life. He'd be ashamed sometimes but never backed-off. After upgrading his scores he applied and surprisingly he was accepted by University of Papua New Guinea after two years of hustle. A jubilation finally! Today he's a very successful businessman. He's business life was influenced by his experiences at the market. Now a self made millionaire. Never discourage your child if he/she doesn't pass the exams. As they say, "MANY ROADS LEAD TO ROME". There're many ways to make it in life. To the struggling students, never be ashamed of your hustles. Nobody will provide for you. ________________________ By Marshal Views Next : The Strength Of A Woman Share your Inspirational Stories, Education Issues, Education Talk.
