Story By: Marshalls Views Sleeps late and wakes up early at the dawn of the first light to find his trail back to the garden. From the garden to the road, thence on the truck and into the city market. Still does not end there. Many days of siting eagerly with shrinking stomach waiting for the customers awaits. Rain falls on him and the wind blows the drops away. Morning sun rises over his face and sets behind leaving him scorched. Every day is a day worth no toea/penny to lose. Here is the flight of a village boy. Just like any other university or College student, he returns home from school for holidays. Many of his cohorts call it a time for break and resort to getting somewhat ultimate rest to recover from the restless days and sleepless nights. Yet for Babona and the family it is a little different. Babona seem to not know what is holiday rest. Every day is a day to hustle. The native lad hails from the mountains of Rigo. Born and raised in the Christian home of Mr. and Mrs. Gaena, Babona is a very devoted member of the United church of Papua New Guinea congregation. At the university where freedom is at will, Babona instead spends his days at school leading students worship services apart from his sole studies. Never a single Sunday will you miss Babona at the Church. He was also an active member of the Central NCD students Association of the institution and the leader of UOG Rigo students.
In the history of his struggles, this day will go down as one of the most memorable days and will remain in his CV as one of the colored ingredients to the many flavors on the paper. In the presences of his era comrades, the faculties and most of all his finally thrilled tearful hardworking poor parents, Babona humbled but confidently marches up and down the graduation aisle to receive one of the highest and prestigious awards of the institution when his native Rigo name echoed through the speakers. What a sweetest feeling after all the struggles. On behalf of the page (Marshall’s views) I would like to lock and load all the deserved congratulations to Babona for his grand achievements. I also wish to extend the congratulations to his never-let-down parents and other stakeholders. Cheers and good luck in your future prospects Lagu hanua (as I used to call him) LESSON TO TAKE AWAY I am sure many of you sit in the market for your school fees like Babona and many others. While there is no guarantee of easy life on this road. Let me rest assure you, keep hustling. No body will provide for you if you give up and give in. With faith and sincere heart keep praying and pushing, one day you will reach the home shores. Nothing is IMPOOSSIBLE even the word itself says, “I’M POSSIBLE.” PC: UOG Admin Facebook page Story By: Marshalls Views Next: From A Rural Village In PNG To Auckland And Graduating With First Class Honours Share your Inspirational Stories, Education Issues, Education Talk.
