Mendi Secondary School in the Southern Highlands Province was scraped off as one of the testing center for the STAT-P Aptitude Test to be conducted for entry into the PNG University of Technology and the University of Goroka.
This means that students from the Southern Highlands and the Hela provinces who are applying to both universities for admission in 2018 are expected to travel to the Holy Trinity Teachers College in Mt. Hagen to do the test. The decision was reached by the STAT-P Test Committee, who met in Lae recently and considered that the testing venue in Mendi Secondary School is too small, which can take up to about 40 students at a time, whilst the other possible venues in the town, had no tables and chairs. Students from Enga and Jiwaka provinces are also expected to go to the Holy Trinity Teachers to do the Test. Another Testing center in the Highlands region will be the University of Goroka. In the Momase region, the testing centers will be at the PNGUoT, Taraka Campus and Mercy Secondary School in Wewak, East Sepik Province. The Islands region will be at the Ecom Secondary School in Manus Province, University of Natural Resources & Environment in East New Britain Province and Hutjena Secondary School in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Tests for the Southern region will be conducted at the Cameron Secondary School in the Milne Bay Province, Port Moresby National High School in the National Capital District and Kiunga Secondary School in Western Province. The test venues were increase to cover new venues compared to last year due to the inclusion of the University of Goroka applicants this year and the test will be conducted from 7 to 9 November 2017 in each of the center. According the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), who are offering the test, the bookings for the test is now open and the deadline for registration is 15 September 2017.
