More than 250 English Language teachers around the country have convened to Port Moresby to mark over 30 000 Grade 12 Written Expression Examination scripts. According to the Education department, the marking began on Monday and will end on Friday this week. The marking was delayed by two weeks due to the education department was yet to arrange for logistics as COVID-19 was unpredictable. According to the Measurement Services Division, the teachers are following COVID-19 protocols during the marking. This include, social distancing, wearing of masks and hand sanitizing. The department says, some good number of the students had withdrawn from school though they were nominated to for the examinations. This was believed to be due to the COVID-19 scare. The department says, the final examinations for Grade 8, 10 and 12 for the year will go ahead as scheduled in October and November. Schools in the country are told to recover lessons in the New Normal approach announced by the department and the COVID-19 Controller.
