The Acting Commissioner of the Teachers Services Commission Joel Nava is warning teachers to maintain a professional conduct with their students or be terminated
Mr Nava says teachers in PNG who abuse their position of trust and have sexual relationships with female students will be terminated immediately.
He issued this warning after three male secondary high school teachers in New Ireland Province were terminated for having sexual relationships with their students.
Mr. Nava says that teachers engaged in sexual relationships with their students is not just a serious offence but also criminal in nature.
Mr. Nava says the three teachers were charged with the offence by a senior provincial school inspector after complaints were raised and the matter was referred to the provincial education board, who recommended their immediate dismissal.
