A MASTERS student from the Chang’an University in China, Xian city, is helping fellow Papua New Guineans to study in China through a scholarship agency.
Second-year MBA (masters in business administration) student Eric Tabili from Pausa in Wapenamanda, Enga, through the Pacific Scholarship in China, has helped more than 40 students to study in China since 2017.
Tabili said students who had studied abroad were assets to the country with skills to create business opportunities and become successful entrepreneurs because of outside exposure.
He said studying overseas was an opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.
Tabili, during his summer break, spent two weeks in the Highlands visiting schools and colleges, delivering pamphlets to students with information about studying in China.
He spoke to students from Goroka, Kabiufa, Mt Hagen and Fatima and other secondary schools about the Pacific scholarship.
In Port Moresby, he talked to Jubilee Secondary School students sharing information about study in China.
“I would like to do my part in helping my fellow Papua New Guineans see the opportunity of getting educated in China for those who cannot make through the formal education system in the country,” Tabili said.
He travelled with the first batch of students for September intake on Aug 25.
The second batch will travel this week.
Tabili said both school and non-school leavers could study in China if they had the required documents.
He said there were different scholarships available.
Tabili said students who were interested to study in China or for more information on scholarships could reach him on email: http://firstname.lastname@example.org.
