SIX primary schools in the National Capital District have been selected to become junior high schools next year, says education services assistant secretary Sam Lora. “These schools are Kaugere Primary School, New Erima Primary School, Evadahana Primary School, Gerehu Primary School, Bavaroko Primary School and Boreboa Primary School. “These schools will enable children to continue their education from Grade Eight to Grade 10,” Lora said. He said this when meeting with parents, teachers and board members of New Erima Primary School on Thursday.
“The whole idea is to give our children an education opportunity all the way from early childhood to Grade 10. “In doing so, we have identified some groundwork already. “We have identified teachers who are able to teach at junior high schools. “ We have created teachers position for junior high schools already. However, our biggest challenge is the infrastructure. “Where do we get the money to build infrastructures like classrooms, science laboratories and other buildings? How do we get the buildings going? And so two sources of funding tend to stand out. “One is the subsidies tuition fee provided by the National Government. “The other source is the project fees which means the parents will have to pay the project fee. “So in the project fee, children in elementary pay K20 while children in primary school pay K60. “However, if the school is undertaking a project and would like to increase that amount, that amount must be a reasonable for the parents and the school board agree upon, not overcharging the parents.” Meanwhile, headmaster Yalo Kipungi urged parents of his New Erima Primary School to pay their outstanding project fees for the year. “So far, a total of K240, 000 project fees are still outstanding since 2020,” he said. “I’m urging you parents of the New Erima Primary School to pay your outstanding project fees to get our new classroom to be completed. “That’s if you want your children to continue to Grade 10 from next year,” Kipungi said. Kipungi said the new classroom project would cost K500,000. “So far, we have spent K200,000 to start of the projec,” he said. “These are from the project fees collected so far.” Statement /TheNational/PNGEducationNews Next : Air Niugini Assists Remote Primary School In East Sepik Comments are closed.
