UNIVERSITY of Technology vice-chancellor Professor Albert Schram says he is looking forward to a good year in 2016, despite a five per cent budget cut and after all the controversies of recent years.
He said last week that he was “very optimistic” of 2016. “We have registered so far about 80 per cent of the students,” he said. “We hope to finish registration soon and Monday we start classes. “We have a long semester, 15 weeks, because we want to attain international accreditation by 2018. We have a very-tight schedule and we need everybody to be in class on Monday and start the semester.” Schram said Unitech had the same policy as University of Papua New Guinea, so intake quota was the same. “Operation budget is decreased by 5 per cent, so we try to cut down costs, increase revenue. We will manage this year,” he said. He said the controversies were “all past”. “That was under the old council,” he said.
