![]() A technical school in Western has integrated yoga into its extra curriculum activities to improve mental and physical health of students. Teacher and yoga trainer at the Saint Gabriel’s Technical Secondary, Brother Lucianus Lakra, said that the course was introduce to help improve the students’ mental and physical health. “About 18 students have joined the course as they began to realise the health benefits of this practice,” he said. “I introduced the idea to the school as part of our extra curriculum activity and many quickly joined. “The yoga practice aims to provide mental and physical relief for the students as certain postures relax certain muscles of the body. “One such posture is called the bow posture which helps to stretch the abdomen and the shoulders, improving body posture and lower back pains.” The school commemorated International Yoga Day 2022 on June 18 with yoga stunts performed by students under the supervision of Lakra.
