![]() LABU Miti Primary School and the community at Wampar local level government in Huon Gulf, Morobe, have reconciled with local MP Ross Seymour over a media report. The reconciliation was made regarding a media report published earlier this year after an interview with Labu Miti head teacher Ruth Eddie which raised some tension. Eddie said the report, regarding the status of the school, was not reported according as she had intended to pass on but, instead, tarnished Seymour’s name. “On behalf of the Labu Miti primary and elementary schools, board of management and teachers, we apologise for the report,” she said.
“Correct information must be aired and always get the other side of any story before publishing.” Labu Miti school chairman Philip Ambanu also apologised to the MP on behalf of the community and the school. Huon Gulf chief executive officer Moses Wanga said what had transpired had been fixed and it was good to apologise and get together to sort out issues which “showed the true spirit of the Melanesian society”. Seymour accepted the apologies and said he had no grudges against them. “The media statement from the head teacher was twisted,” he said. “They did a good interview but they should check the other side of the coin. “If you get an interview regarding something at the district, go to the district administrator and balance it instead of getting a one-sided story.” The community presented food items worth more than K1,000 to Seymour and he gave K10,000 to the school and the community.
