![]() NINE children attending the Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) library learning centres in Port Moresby toured the cabin of an aircraft yesterday and told to think about becoming pilots. They toured a PNG Air ATR aircraft yesterday in Port Moresby to celebrate the partnership between the BbP and PNG Air. Buk bilong Pikinini executive officer Leanne Resson said PNG Air had assisted in the delivery of 65,953 books to 54 schools in 16 provinces around the country. She said BbP received requests from schools across the country wanting to restore their depleted libraries and provide the students with resources for their education.
“Without the support of PNG Air, schools in regional locations would not be able to benefit from this vital support,” she said. Resson said 1,491 boxes of books were transported by PNG Air aircraft to be distributed to the schools since June. She said the BbP’s library learning centres would implement a new digital learning programme in 2021. PNG Air will ensure that teachers are ready to deliver the programme. The company will assist in bringing BbP’s 40 teachers to Port Moresby in December for a digital training programme. PNG Air chief executive Anthony Pereira said they would do everything possible to help children.
