![]() A group of teachers at a remote school in Papua New Guinea have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure their students' exam papers made it to the capital Port Moresby for marking. The eight teachers trekked for two days and a night from Tapini at the base of the rugged Owen Stanley Ranges after a charter plane failed to arrive to pick up the papers. Among the group is is Raphael Amato, who's only in his first year as a teacher at the Sacred Heart Secondary School. He said they decided to undertake the arduous walk to ensure their students' hard work was not wasted. "The principal told us no we cannot wait because the life of our students is in our hands," he said.
"Their exam papers are their lives so we have to take the exam papers down". Mr Amato said it was a difficult trek in rugged terrain. "Almost all of the teachers are not from this area at the end all of them were so exhausted," he said. Source : ABC News Next : Changing Tuition Fee Free Policy Was A Mistake Comments are closed.
